Let’s talk about the woman who gave it up.
The one who found a career she loved.
A place where she belonged.
A space where she felt confident for the first time in her life.
Until at some pivotal moment, lost among the chaos, everything changed.
Maybe it was when two lines appeared on the stick instead of one.
Maybe it was that first day back from maternity leave.
Maybe it was the first missed milestone.
Perhaps it wasn’t until child two or three that brought a jarring realization.
Whenever it happened isn’t all that significant. It’s that somewhere along the way, the path changed.
She decided to step back because what she thought life would look like, just wasn’t the goal anymore.
So, for several years she soaked it all in. She was there for every single boo boo, every single tear. And boy, was it incredible.
But as any mom will tell you, the days are short, but the years pass so quickly.
Suddenly that itch is there, that nostalgia for the young woman she once appeared.
She was someone before she was anyone’s mother. And she finds herself craving those pieces back.
They say we can’t have it all, but maybe we’re just overthinking it?
Are we spending so much time doom scrolling, trying to keep up with the joneses and comparing our grass to everyone else’s, that there’s no time left to chase after what our soul needs?
I’m a mom of four who has spent nearly the last decade being pregnant or postpartum.
But before that? I was a woman who fiercely and passionately pursued a career in teaching.
I want to have it all.
I want to be there for my children when they’re sick.
When they have a field trip.
When they need a mental health day.
I also very strongly want to contribute to the early education field again, in an impactful way.
For the past few years, I’ve dreamt how I can channel my experience & education to create something that will grant me both.
And you should too. Whether you’re a SAHM, a WFH mama, or a working mom- you deserve to make time for the things that set your soul on fire.
Please remember that you’re just a woman living life for the first time.
