What my family is currently reading — and for the littlest two of the crew, that means what they’re asking to be read over and over again.

Toddler- 𝐏𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐲’𝐬 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 by Elm Tree Books

An interactive “lift the flap” book that features a puppy as the main character who is hunting for and exploring different places to play. Each page depicts the puppy visiting a new spot and the dialogue offers a clue about what animal the puppy (and your toddler) will find hiding behind the flap. Another great perk? This came from Target for only $4.99!

Preschooler- 𝐍𝐢𝐛𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 by Emma Yarlett

This engaging picture books allows the child to feel a part of the story as the narrator speaks directly to the reader while Nibbles escapes his box and eats his way through the pages (there are actual holes.) Nibbles jumps through three different fairy tales until the reader manages to trap him. The author gives one last laugh as Nibbles escapes again, jumping into the sequel! We purchased this story from my daughter’s preschool bookfair and it has quickly become a family favorite.

Second grader- 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: 𝐅𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧 by Tracey West

After devouring (and loving) most of the Jack and Annie series- my son was ready for something new. A good family friend recommended Dragon Masters, a fantasy series where the main characters go on magical adventures with the dragons they train and bond with. This particular one follows character Heru as he attempts to save the prime Dragon Stone and is number 6 in the series of over 30 books!

Fourth grader- 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛: 𝐃𝐚𝐰𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 by Gale Galligan

I felt mass nostalgia when my daughter wanted to read The Babysitter’s Club- but I’m not sure we are ready for the chapter ones just yet. To my surprise, somewhere in the last few decades, Gale Galligan has turned these beloved classics into graphic novels. This novel follows main character Dawn as she moves to Stoneybrook and tries to fit in while taking on her first babysitting gigs. Talk about all the 90s feels with a new twist!

Mom- 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 by Romy Hausmann

I’m a thriller genre junkie through and through. This one came recommended to me and thirty pages in, I am hooked. The novel follows main character, Lena, who escapes her captor after 14 years. Upon returning home, her family swears that she isn’t their little girl that went missing. Also, a moment for the kindle because I swore up and down that would never be me. Now look at me, dressing up my kindle in cutie little cases.

Dad- 𝐔𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧’𝐬 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 by The Bathroom Reader’s Institute

Like Carrie and Doug on King of Queens, I really tried to turn my husband into a reader. But when he told me that Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera was boring, I audibly gasped and I knew all hope was lost for him. He will, however, read trivia and random facts while spending too much time in the bathroom. Seriously, men what are you doing in there?! This and ESPN highlights conclude his catalog. We’ll try for him again in our forties.
